The Durango Bike Bag Collection features TRUZip toothless zippers and 420d TPU nylon.

Linking up gnarly routes in a multisport fashion is all the rage. And for good reason — there’s nothing quite like the feel of shredding single-track down into a gorge and then loading up a raft for some Class III rapids.

So, it’s no surprise that packraft brand Kokopelli is jumping into the bike bag game with the Durango Bike Bag Collection. The bags are made of 420-denier double-sided TPU nylon and will be available to the public in spring 2023. The collection runs the full bikepacking range, featuring a frame bag, handlebar bag, top tube bag, and seatpost bag.

GearJunkie’s Seiji Ishii got a sneak peek of the bags at the summer 2022 Outdoor Retailer Show in Denver this week.

“Over the past 10 years, we’ve learned a lot about how people adventure. Combining mountain biking and packrafting in a single trip allows people to mix up their approach and access areas that were previously very difficult to get to,” Kokopelli General Manager and Product Director Jeff Popp explained. “Until now, there hasn’t been the right bag system that allows users to transition off the trail to the water and back to the trail again.”

Popp added, “Our Durango bikepacking bag line solves this problem and is a great solution for those wanting to paddle and pedal.”

The Durango Bike Bag collection stands out for its true waterproof capability — something that is still sadly not a standard feature with bikepacking bags.

Kokopelli achieves waterproof status with welded seems, TPU-coated nylon, and the use of TRUZip. TRUZip is a toothless zipper technology that manages to be both waterproof and dustproof, so you should be able to go ahead and tackle any standing waves that happen to be in front of you.

No word on cost yet, but Kokopelli designed the bags to live at a mid-tier price point.

Look out for the Durango collection at Kokopelli in spring 2023.
